75 Questions: Day 64

When the blog questions began, 75  days ago, that the exact number of days before the opening of a new year 2017, according to the Gregorian calendar. Now there are 11 days until New Year (Monday – Sunday). As is customary, the remaining blog postings will ask you just one question. That question may inspire you, it may perplex you, it may anger you, it may be the catalyst for indelible change, or it may even tickle you. Each question could inculcate stronger mindfulness.

The intent of all 75 questions is to probe, to prompt a reaction, to get you to stretch, to press beyond tradition or boundaries, to think broader, to break free, to face the fear, or liberate you by confirming what you already know for sure. You are only asked to respond each day with a thoughtful answer to the question.

Each question, ultimately, is to give you the intimate space to recover how to love yourself which by compassion omnipresence expands and then allows you to love and share empathy for others.

“If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.” ~Jack Kornfield

These 75 question can precipitate change. The question is to be a pathway to inner change that leaves you feeling affirmed, more safe, in control, powerful, intrigued, and authentic.

When these amazing emotions are opened up within you (they already exist), you change and your world changes and the whole world changes with you.

Question 64: What is your favorite affirmation?

Tuesday Thought: Security

How secure are you?

This question may prompt you to think about what goes on in your mind. You may think “I am an idiot” after you make a mistake or you may hold grudges that indulge self-pity. Conversely, you may find it easy to celebrate success, yours or someone else’s. You may also readily accept responsibility for a mistake and use it to deepen your learning. The differences between the two sets of thought actions indicate your level of inner security.

“Mind is the master power that molds and makes and man is mind, and evermore he takes the tool of thought, and, shaping what he wills brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills. He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass. Environment is but his looking glass.”  ~James Allen

Who do you think you are?

Take a few minutes to reflect on this life pivot question. The value and esteem with which you honestly answer the question can track you to some hidden issues of debasement. Try this exercise:

I am _____________, _____________. __________ and I ____________. My life environment is _______________ and I enjoy _____________ of things about the manner that I live. My motto is _______________________________________________________________ and I take time to _________________ ___________, ______________, _________________ everyday.

Be Secure

Be Secure

NEXT: Write an affirmation for yourself (repeat this throughout the day)

LAST: How do you feel now that you have completed the three parts of this exercise?

Are you feeling more secure? Let us know what transformations occurred. Unlock your security, tell your story.

The Right Continuity: Three Ways to Sanity

“Skill to do comes of doing.”

                                                                                  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

You are not insane!  So many people have adopted the “insanity” definition – doing the same thing expecting a different result – that they are paralyzed with fear over the notion of looking insane.  Repeat after me:  I am NOT insane.  I am not insane! Continuous pursuit of what is right for you, that you passionately believe in is right.

Instead, you are practicing the right continuity.  You are pursuing your passion, lead by your inner drive to effect change.  You see a different path, you hear a different drumbeat, and you live a sane driven life to see your dream fulfilled.  The right continuity often means that you may have to go solo, which is fine so long as you are solid in the endeavor.  The Beatles were told to get lost, people would hnot listen to their music.  Dorothy Irene Height was told that her fight for African American women was in vain.  J. K. Rowling was told that children would not read her books.

These world changing pioneers, and a broad spectrum of others, continued right on.  They spoke out, they wrote-even on a napkin, they sang…over and over again.  Consuming passion meant to them that they could not stop even though it looked like what they were pursuing was insane.

You have the right to continue to pursue your hearts desire.  Instead of giving up, practice these sanity tips:

  1. Check your heart.  Do you feel deep in your heart that what you are doing is right and worthy?  If so, be happy and continue.  If not, objectively make the changes that resonate rightness within your heart and then continuously and bravely move forward.
  2. Check your eyes.  Are you seeing a sane future?  It matters not the chaos of the external world, what matters singularly doing with skill what you see that you must do.  We are all purposed with vision, many cloud their eyes by allowing the myopic cataract of fear to blind them to their right, purposeful and passionate pursuit of a better world.  Keep your eyes clear-see a sane future.
  3. Check your mind.  What are you saying to yourself?  Noticing what you are telling yourself, the stories you believe, can enrich your sanity or drive you to feel that you are insane.  Are you encouraging your passion or slowly blotting it out.  Repeat: I am not insane!

Use words that affirm, see a clear conclusion, and feel in your heart that your a right and that you have the right to continue to pursue your passion and life work.  Develop the skill of doing, practice sanity and rightly continue.

Resolutions and Solutions

As you approach the calendar marker of January 1st, it is typical for many to begin to nervously bite their nails as they get ready to make a new list of resolutions.  Don’t fret or stall this year because you are going to plot your resolutions differently-this year you will focus on creating solutions that are connected to each resolutions.

Put away the emery board, the only file you will need is a notes file which you will use to create a winning strategy of resolution solutions. There is a system to achievement. Ask any goal-directed person, you will hear that they worked from a productive mindset to create a repeatable success plan.T. Harv Eker, in his seminal book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, says:

“It’s  what’s under the ground that creates what’s above the ground. It’s what’s invisible that creates what’s visibleif you want to change the fruits (achieving your resolutions), you will first have to change the roots.”

Resolution success involves fertilizing your roots.  Resolutions, at any time or date, are nothing more than affirmations you plant in the soil of achievement.  When you add solutions-nothing more than a road map to your affirmed resolutions- you are then operating with the dynamic power of the invisible and the visible. Become a tree planted by the water, be NOT moved.

Resolution Solutions Steps:

  1. Go ahead.  Start writing your heartfelt resolutions. Make each one in the form of a declaration. Use “I am” statements-create your future truth.
  2. Each declaration must also have a solution statement or page-depending on the breath and depth of what you are resolving to do. For example: Resolution-I am an author, I will publish my manuscript by September 2014. Your solution statement may be-I will write or edit two pages every day.
  3. Post your resolutions and solution statements in your meditation room, on the refrigerator, on the mirror, and/ or on your bedroom door.               Success Solution:  tell three  people what you have resolved to do (make sure you solidify your base of support by telling at least one person who has done what you resolve to do, solicit the help of an expert who will support you).

Bringing forth your resolutions from the “invisible” also means that your resolution tree is grounded, planted with indissoluble definiteness. In the book, Climb Every Obstacle: Eliminate Your Limits!, the opportunity step for the obstacle doubt is to write “I believe” statements.

Say: “I believe” a million times a day, especially when you pass the areas where you have written your resolution/solution statement(s). Pause, plant roots in your life soil often, think about what you believe-make the invisible visible. Write it, say it.
Resolution solution suggestion:  Once your initial list is complete, start off by using the first 25 days to inculcate your resolutions.  Stand in front of your page(s) and repeat out loud every resolution you have written.  Say the resolution, then put your hand over your heart and affirm out loud using the words “I believe” after each one. Master this technique. Toss the emery board, get a resolution board. Toss the calendar, get started writing your resolutions and solutions today!

Resolutions and solutions are the invisible roots that make visible your life tree.

Email your resolution/solution list to me – anita@anitajefferson.com – and I will send you a mid-year reminder as a check-in to give you support.
