75 Questions: Day 73

When this blog series of 75 Questions began, there were 75 days before the pivotal start of New  Year 2017, according to the Gregorian calendar. From that day forward, the life-changing  countdown began and it continues. So, for the next 5 days (Monday – Sunday) the blog postings will still ask you one question. That question may inspire you, it may perplex you, it may anger you, or it may tickle you. The main thrust is to get you to your zone of happiness.

The main intent of the 75 questions is to probe, to prompt a reaction, to get you to stretch, to press beyond tradition or boundaries, to think broader, to break free,  to find your dharma. All that is asked is for you to give a thoughtful answer to the question. Focus.

It’s about the trust that is within you. You are your guide to help life go right. The arrow direction of which only you dominantly control. Awakened mindfulness, compassion, awareness. Meditation on your intention, that your guide arrow. Peek into your peak.

The overall intent of the 75 questions is to capture change. The questions are to be a precursor for inner change that leaves you feeling more safe, in control, powerful, intrigued, and authentic..

When these amazing emotions are opened up within you (they already exist), you change and your world changes and the whole world changes with you.

Monday Miracle: Service

Serve from the heart

                               Serve from your heart

“Faith is the magnet which draws the confirmation of the Merciful One.  Service is the magnet which attracts the heavenly strength.” ~Abdu’l-Baha

Opening up your heart to serve others allows you to experience a greater feeling of gracious thoughtfulness.  When you decide to interact with others today through the mindfulness of service, you extend the heart-shake of good will.

Service to and mindfulness about others around you could be as simple as expressing your appreciation to other, sharing your talent for a project or purpose, extending well wishes that contribute to their happiness. Service may also mean that you give a monetary charitable gift or that you may want to accept a larger load of responsibility so that someone else can take a break.

The intrinsic beauty of service is that it helps you expand your feelings of love for others and it allows you to experience a connection that transcends tradition or the bounds of societal norms.  Abandon superstition, materialism, selfishness, or the intellect which leads you to ignore opportunities for service. Instead, experience a pure consciousness of love, the alpha of which is service.

In generosity and helping others, be like a river. In compassion and grace, be like the sun.” ~Melvana Celaeddin-i-Rumi

Magnetize your life today; serve others with a heart of love.  Be a river, be a sun.

12 Gifts for You

As you absorb the active spirit of giving, don’t forget to give to your inner self. It is important to pause and add your name to the gift list. Gifts oftentimes bestow happiness, especially when genuine thoughtfulness is attached to it. Then, it is not the gift or the cost of the item but the care and kindness that is associated with it.

Make it a practice and often used priority in your life to give a gift to yourself.

Fantastic Friday: Altruism

Giving helps. Researchers confirm what we already know: giving benefits the giver as much or sometimes more than the receiver.

On this Fantastic Friday, exercise your altruism muscle so that your heart stays strong.

Ho Su Kim was recently honored for his volunteer work at The Center for Pan Asian Community Service, Inc., where he founded the Food Pantry program providing food assistance to families and seniors in need in metro-Atlanta. His fantastic act of care – building a sustainable program of giving selflessly so that others will have food to eat is worthy.  Mr. Kim decided to get busy and exercise his heart muscle by doing something that now benefits hundreds of families per week.

You too can do good by giving with an altruistic spirit. Look around, identify a need, and share what you have.  It may be a random pay-it-forward act or it could be using a hammer at a Habitat build, or helping the elderly or a child with homework for free.

The options you have for altruism are as open and unique as you are. The main thrust here is to give and to give with heart. Your altruism may be a one-off act or it could be longer term like Mr. Kim or similar to Karen White and her family, whom I admire so much. They adopted two children from Africa and life is great for the family.

Whatever act of altruism you choose this Friday, do it and feel fantastic!

Fantastic Friday

What a day to celebrate – today is the day of one.  11-11-11 all ones that equal 1. One you, One God, One Faith, One humanity, One love, One grace, One focus, One family, One heart, One grace, One expectation….

Make your own One …. declaration. One ?

Fantastic!

Today I want to highlight a concept for Fantastic Friday.  11 Alive News (www.11alive.com), a local television station in Atlanta, is celebrating what is fantastic, fabulous, and factitive about sharing and giving goodness from the heart.   The news takes a new twist at this station; instead of all gloom, fear and death, they are championing what is good that children and young people do to make this world a better place.

“It’s a movement meant to have a positive impact on people’s lives every day.”  Add to the Chain, using the example of Rachel Scott,  the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999 is linking up Georgians all across the state. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for Rachel’s Challenge, is Georgia’s response of trans-formative positive impact.

Schools and businesses and people from across Georgia   volunteered time, contributed creative solutions and took an active part in giving that added to the chain of kindness. One random act from the heart makes a difference.

I plan to join the thousands of celeebrants at the Georgia Dome today for the culmination of  this year of service,  kindness and thoughtfulness and bask in the prominence of happiness and joy so that I have an indelible imprint to carry forward.

Don’t stop! It does not matter where you are in the world, keep the chain of kindness going.

Make a fantastic contribution of positive sharing today and everyday.  As six year old Zalissa Lomax of Gainesville, Georgia knows,  “just a smile can change something, and that’s never too small of an act of kindness.”

You are fantastic, be fantastic and give what is fantastic in you.

Happy Friday!

Miracle Monday: Giving

“The service we render to others is really the rent we pay for our room on this earth.

It is obvious that man is himself a traveler; that the purpose of this world is not ‘to have and to hold’ but ‘to give and serve.”
~Sir Wilfred T. Grinfell

It is a miracle to give, give thanks this Monday.  There are so many who need the service of kindness that you give at this moment, right now.  The gift of giving may mean that you are not recognized, what a bounty that is. It may mean that the person you serve by giving out of love never says” thank you,” but give without receipt anyway.  Give, make a miracle in someone else’s life – pay your rent.

Abdu’l-Baha adds “Faith is the magnet which draws the confirmation of the Merciful One. Service is the magnet which attracts the heavenly strength.” Giving and service strengthens our capacity; it magnetizes our ability to attract miracles. Therefore, give freely. It is a law of the universe that the flow of giving circulates a continuous flow of energy.  Dynamic exchange and interchange stimulates the current of return since nothing is static.

Giving prompts receiving and receiving prompts giving – that is pure reciprocity.  Give a smile, give a simple prayer, give praise, give a hug, give financial support. Regardless of the pivot, giving with compassion is a blessing to someone. Transform your life by opening your heart to give and receive with gracious gratitude.

Give without remembering and accept gifts without forgetting. Make a miracles yours by giving and serving someone else today.
