Rev Up Your Activation Energy

You are at your goal start line, rev your success engine. Only you can put the pedal on your life accelerator. Nobody else can rev   your engine, you alone must press the pedal that accelerates your life. Only you can drive the lane to your success.

This is a reality: YOU control your life pace. Many want to blame outside forces and rationalize external happenings as the reason they stall out at the start line. Others get started, but fail to maintain their goal lane because they are looking everywhere else to see what someone else is doing.  And then there are those who make it close to the goal line and stall out right there-completely out of gas because they did not plan for their success.

All of these defense mechanisms – blame, irrational rationalization, lack of focus, stalling, not planning – are all negative psychological tendencies that flatten your activation energy; the fuel that masters any goal. There is no way you will climb over obstacles to live a happy, fulfilled life when these energy barriers dominate your thinking.

Shawn Achor, seen on the PBS special program “The Happiness Advantage”, is a Harvard educated researcher on life fulfillment and happiness, asserts that “the real story of happiness is that every person has a range of potential — in terms of intelligence, athletic ability, musicality, creativity, and productivity — and we are more likely to achieve the upper bounds of our brain’s potential when we’re feeling positive, rather than negative or neutral.”

What can you do when you just float along? How far do you go when your energy is sapped? How happy do you really feel when your mind is clouded with worry and despair?

Your success and ultimate happiness depends on your ability to activate your energy. In fact, Mr. Achor says “long-term success is based upon your ability to positively adapt to the world: optimism, social support creation, and viewing stress as a challenge instead of as a threat.” This adaptive perspective is called your “activation energy.”

Regardless of where you are in your life, it is time to rev up your activation energy. Here’s how to rev up your activation energy:
1. Want more joy. You have to want more happiness and inner joy in your life. This first you step is the fulcrum of being joyful. You can be happy. You deserve to be happy.

2. Activate your energy. Now that you seek more joy and fulfillment in your life, it is time to actively pursue your happiness. Stop waiting around for someone to make you fell good. Go out and do the things that support your happiness and don’t stop until you feel joyful.

3. Disavow negativity. Get away from anyone or anything that disturbs your happiness. Take a “feelings” assessment: tune in to what and who feels good to you. When you find those energy drainers, and you definitely will, get rid of them.

4. Practice happiness. Give away your joy. Smile more, volunteer, sing, dance, fiddle, get in your zone. You will attract more and more happiness energy to play the harp of joy everyday in your life.

Activate your positive energy. Be happy. Take advantage of abundant joy-you deserve it.

Monday Miracle: Laughter

I remember reading a refreshing book, God Loves Laughter, by William Sears and ended up wondering why there is not more laughter in our world. What seems to dominate most consciousness is a mean spirit of competition and conflcit in the world today that leaves a battered sense of self.  Laughter is the divine elixir that can ameliorate  destructive emotional and character traits by creating a channel of healthy release leading you to a place of happiness.

It does not matter how short-lived laughter and happiness are, it opens the heart to goodness.

Of course there is pain, injury, suffering in the world. That is understood. But, dwelling on these unpleasant things of life blocks one’s true life purpose: to be happy and to love.

Love and happiness-the twin pillars that shoulder purpose.  When external events or situations confound our emotions, the best remedy is to search for that moment of inner joy and purpose to restore your power.  Gabrielle Bernstein, founder of Her Future (www.herfuture.com) is on to something.  She uses social media to connect, inspire and advise women to retain their power regardless of the simple, temporary  pain that may scare, confuse, or depress them. The same advise is useful for me. Maintain your power by hooking into purpose and laughter.

Joy gives us wings.  Fly to the realm of  indomitable spirit.  Use the invisible, but omnipresent, string of hope and inner resourcefulness that ever connects you to purpose, power, and laughter. Stay in-joy so that you can enjoy life. Stop right now and make a declaration-I AM A JOYFUL AND HAPPY BEING.

Make laughter a part of your Monday Miracle.

Where is Your Chi (Energy)?

We have turned a new Gregorian calendar page and emptied out the old for the new destined promises of 2012. In order to allow whatever you desire that is promised for you, there has to be energy around it.  James Arthur Ray is famous for say, “Energy goes where attention flows.” Oprah Winfrey mimics the same principal with her words,”I know for sure that what we dwell on is who we become.”

Becoming in 2012 takes energy. Here are three ways to boost your energy(chi):

  • Put things in order. Complete or replace dangling needs. If you have not yet finished writing or have a project or issue left over, examine it and then finish or replace it. Don’t get frustrated that your expected time of completion has passed, instead really examine within yourself if this is viable for right now. Ask yourself is this my truest intention? Oftentimes leftover projects are the result of low energy for that particular thing instead of being a lack of time. Check your energy level around that specific need, project or issue, in harmonious intention, and either refresh your completion timeline or replace that one with something new that is “hot” with energy for you.
  • Defuzz your vision.  Often we know what we feel and want in our lives. The problem many times is that our feelings (energy) and wants are clouded over similar to a cataract eye.  Make your 2012 vision 20/20.  There are many ways for you to do this and let me suggest two energy chi  surge actions that when paired together touch a circuit for completion and realization that equals success. ONE-write your goals down. Make it real by using a pen a paper to describe in exact detail what gives you energy.  TWO – create a vision board that is a pictorial representation of where you will direct your energy this year.

Look at my personal vision board for 2012. It is clear how I will direct my energy (chi) this year.  This is what I want in 2012: a caring, giving, prosperous spirit; a loving helpmate; travel to Italy or other countries represented by the flags; to complete the Peachtree Road Race in 2012; to sell 800 copies of my book Climb Every Obstacle: Eliminate Your Limits! (afterwhich it goes out of print); to be active in Toastmasters; to practice A+ excellence in all things knowing that I can do it.

My vision board was constructed and laid out according to the Chinese theory of Feng Shui and the Bagua map.  My reference is written with clear instructions and simple diagrams which really aided my completion.  You will find the Bagua map and Feng Shui at http://pmfs.wordpress.com/2008/01/16/the-bagua/.    The main point here is to couple your clearly written and visual goals together to create the energy and action to make everything you desire in 2012 to happen.

  • Set up marker stations.  Pay attention to your intentions and your energy (chi) every day.  As you go throughout the year pause at marker points to celebrate.  For me, a marker point would be after I have run 3 miles seven days in a row-I need to celebrate because this is a halfway point in the Peachtree Road Race for example.  You set your own marker stations and add more energy fuel for completion by celebrating.   Notice that I am very clear and specific about what my marker station is for that specific goal.  Do the same for each of your goals with a sensible frequency for celebration that energizes you and reminds you that you have matched a goal marker in your life.  Then, move your marker station for that goal to stretch beyond where you are at that moment (include this as a part of your energy celebration) so that you advance forward to  successfully completing that goal.

Some of your goals can be completed short-term and others may take more time, but knowing in written and visual form that your goals are attainable as long as your energy attention flows, will renew your completion strength day by day and from marker to marker.

Here’s to your Chi in 2012.

Emotional Exercise 1

Most people fear change. No matter how much you are aware of and talk about making a change in your life usually because of the undercurrent of fear it is not done.

The intent of the Emotional Exercise that I will write about and the Assignment given is to push you beyond the limiting fear. You can rule the world. You can live your dreams. You can climb any obstacle. You can live the best life ever!

 You cannot talk yourself out of what you behave yourself into

Talk just will NOT do it. It takes emotional exercise (action) to change behavior. The reason why I am attaching emotion to exercise is because it takes the two together to modify behavior and outlook. One without the other is futile; exercise without emotion often becomes a faded dream that eventually dissipates into a vague longing which eventually becomes a mark of disappointment.  The pile on of one disappointment after another is the primary reason most people  just give up and retreat to just repetitive sad talk about change.

You can change and be a better person. You can change and connect without fear. You can have the emotional freedom you desire. It takes personal accountability, seeing and feeling your mind power, emotional energy, patience, and potent joy. 

Use Emotional Exercise to create new behavior

Your Emotional Exercise 1 for today:

  • Clear all, I really mean ALL distractions for 30 minutes. No computer, no cell phone, no telephone, no handheld device, no smartphone, no email, no television-NOTHING for 30 minutes.  If you find you are having difficulty doing this for 30 minutes – leave the page. You do not want to change. You are not ready to change. More power to you.  But, if you are willing to invest 30 minutes to refine a new you, then take the next step.
  • Get a piece of paper or go to a clean page in your journal. Write. That’s all you are required to do for thirty minutes. Write free-form, no editing, no thinking about polite words, put your sanitized mind to rest for 30 minutes and just write in random form whatever comes to your mind.  Write everything, anything you want to write.

Write in longhand a stream of consciousness musing. Write what is in your mind. No filters. No judgment. No wrong or right words. Just write words. Describe you. Write.

  • Breathe. Write and breathe in the freshness of putting onto paper everything you can imagine about you, your life, your outcomes, your behavior for the next six months to a year

Take deep breaths, let the words you are writing go deep within-no judgement, no cynicism,  no doubt or fear. Just breathe in refreshing, restorative air and write for 30 minutes.

  • Feel your words. No judgment, no doubt, no reservations here. JUST FEEL! No censors.
  • Stop. When you have reached 30 minutes – STOP. Be disciplined here-stop. Fold your paper and put it away. Do NOT read what you wrote. Fold your page in the journal or fold the sheet of paper you wrote on and put it away. No discussion. Nothing. File your page away in a safe place where only you will see it when you get to Emotional Exercise 2.
  • You are done for the day – feel good about that!

This first imprint Emotional Exercise is complete. It is your pivot step to behavior change.

I am proud of what you have done today.  Look for Emotional Exercise 2 tomorrow. We will build upon this exercise to strengthen your behavior change.

Miracle Monday

Just when you think it will never happen, your miracle comes!  What a liberating thought-to love and live with expectancy. Have hope, expect a miracle.

Something good is going to happen to you, especially for you, TODAY! Keep this declaration in your subconscious mind throughout the day each and every day.  This attitude of gracious acceptance with genuine gratitude for your miracle, whether large or small, elevates your consciousness and messages to the universe that you are ready. Ready to receive, ready to reciprocate, ready to live your purpose.

Each of us are born for a reason, that’s why we populate the earth; not to just breathe and take up space. Absolutely not, you have a sacred purpose. You have a one-of-a-kind imprint, a personal tattoo of purpose. You have an earthly assignment. So, on this Miracle Monday take time to reflect on your miracle mission.  Go back to the basic question WHY? Why am I here, why am I breathing, why am I a thinking, capable being, why was I created noble?

We all have a noble destiny…let me repeat that-we all have a noble destiny.

Pause and inculcate that truth – you have a noble destiny!

If you are not connected – or need a reminder – with the inner awareness that you were created noble and have a destiny, let me suggest these simple connection steps.

  • Place your hand over your heart and say out loud – I am noble. I have a destiny.
  • Smile, see that sacred part of yourself deep within your being.
  • Feel the healing energy and peaceful vibrations from repeating again and again – I am noble. I have a destiny.
  • Trust the universe-trust yourself. Know, really have a solid, unshakable knowing, that you are noble and are on this earth to seek your destined place.
  • Write your declaration – I am noble and I have a destiny.  Then allow your feelings to be and write what you feel.
  • Create your miracle

You can create anything in your life, purposed for the highest good. All you have to do is pay close attention – and expect your purposed miracle.
