Monday Miracle: Integrity

In all that you do, let integrity be your adorning.  Look beyond worldly accoutrements, in spite of the evidence of lawlessness, conscious-free behavior and media adoration of the wild and crazy. Instead, act in the opposite.

Be a person of integrity.  Nice people do often finish first. A recent news story about a homeless man in Atlanta, who searched for the owner of a lost purse at three hotels until she was located, proves this point. His integrity to disavow the criminal label most homeless persons typically find associated with them was rewarded not only by the hotel but others who sought him out to acknowledge his goodness.

Integrity always trumps-in all ways always.  There is another account of a couple who were facing financial hardship when they found a wallet full of money. Instead of keeping the money they found that would have solved their dire circumstances, their consciousness overruled their temporal low cash flow and they turned the wallet in at the police station.  Their reward was a clean conscious.

Mindful integrity, at any time, is fundamental to happiness, peace-of-mind, inner joy. Integrity is the gemstone of all goodness. “Regard your good name as the richest jewel you can possibly be possessed of — for credit is like fire; when once you have kindled it you may easily preserve it, but if you once extinguish it, you will find it an arduous task to rekindle it again. The way to a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.” ~Socrates

The magical miracle of integrity is that others recognize and value the trust of your character. Even though it may seem that people around you are not noticing the integrity you exhibit, they notice. Even when you are looked upon as peculiar or when you are even bullied for your integrity, hold steadfast. It matters not the environment or the circumstance, honesty and integrity is your esteem.

“Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it’s true. ~Warren Buffett

Never let go of your integrity. It’s your inner light, never cease letting it shine. Adorn integrity.

Tell others your experience with integrity. Write your story or share the miracle of integrity.

Come Alive!

Alive

Alive (Photo credit: Kara Allyson)

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

~Dr. Howard Thurman

Practice what you teach; that’s all it takes to be a practice teacher. Start today by noticing what you practice successfully (meaning what you are good at) and begin teaching that.

Rather than search all over the world for meaning, practice teach what has meaning for you right now.  Modify your inner world-that what you know, practice and teach-to create your outer world.

Ask yourself what makes you come alive.

That’s what you exhibit to the world.  Touch what is intrinsic to you inside.  Magnify and illumine that gift of an alive spirit within you and then glow in your happiness.  You will feel an increased self-worth, gain in purpose identity, and sprint to new levels of success when what you practice and then teach is synchronized to your belief and action.

You already sense what is meaningful to you. That true purpose of yours is there, but it may take some changes in your learned automatic responses to uncover “meaning” that has been buried because of fear, tradition, criticism, doubt or other internalized limitations.

To come alive, you have to open up to life and leave all of your obstacles behind.

Here is how to begin to come alive and live a life of success:

  1. Get into alignment. Akaya Windwood, president of the Rockwood Leadership Institute suggests using mindful activities such as meditation or yoga to shift into stronger alignment with your innate passion to come alive. She says, “These practices help people to determine what’s meaningful to them and get aligned with these interests.” Or, create a mantra that magnifies your passion.  The point with alignment is create inner and outer congruency to live out alive.
  2. Seek opportunities.  Search for opportunities in your life, whether its career or personal, to practice teach what is meaningful to you. Toss out your fears and do it, find opportunities that give you the freedom to make a contribution.  Opportunities are out there, step into an existing one or create your own opportunity.  It is up to you to find compatible ways to practice and teach what you value. Read Making Good.
  3. Get out of a bind. Get away from whatever is binding you. Get out of the mental ropes that strap your mind. Eliminate your limits, resist useless tradition.  Push back, investigate truth, examine meaning for yourself. Really search your mental attitude and rid yourself of oppressive coils of expectation. Trash mental clutter and open up to fresh, new possibilities and begin to practice teach what is bind-less to you.
  4. Make a list. Now that you are open, ready to change and explore your intrinsic meaning of living alive and awakened, make your own life list. John Goddard made his “life list” of things he wanted to do at the age of fifteen. He wrote 127 goals or experiences that were meaningful to him-he came alive.  Write your life list, live alive.

Active passion, that may or may not be guided by a life list, is one practice of the successful and fulfilled. Every person has a passion for something.  The achievement key is to get your practice teaching certificate by living your purpose and passion now.

Come alive.

Emotional Exercise 1

Most people fear change. No matter how much you are aware of and talk about making a change in your life usually because of the undercurrent of fear it is not done.

The intent of the Emotional Exercise that I will write about and the Assignment given is to push you beyond the limiting fear. You can rule the world. You can live your dreams. You can climb any obstacle. You can live the best life ever!

You cannot talk yourself out of what you behave yourself into

Talk just will NOT do it. It takes emotional exercise (action) to change behavior. The reason why I am attaching emotion to exercise is because it takes the two together to modify behavior and outlook. One without the other is futile; exercise without emotion often becomes a faded dream that eventually dissipates into a vague longing which eventually becomes a mark of disappointment.  The pile on of one disappointment after another is the primary reason most people  just give up and retreat to just repetitive sad talk about change.

You can change and be a better person. You can change and connect without fear. You can have the emotional freedom you desire. It takes personal accountability, seeing and feeling your mind power, emotional energy, patience, and potent joy.

Use Emotional Exercise to create new behavior

Your Emotional Exercise 1 for today:

  • Clear all, I really mean ALL distractions for 30 minutes. No computer, no cell phone, no telephone, no handheld device, no smartphone, no email, no television-NOTHING for 30 minutes.  If you find you are having difficulty doing this for 30 minutes – leave the page. You do not want to change. You are not ready to change. More power to you.  But, if you are willing to invest 30 minutes to refine a new you, then take the next step.
  • Get a piece of paper or go to a clean page in your journal. Write. That’s all you are required to do for thirty minutes. Write free-form, no editing, no thinking about polite words, put your sanitized mind to rest for 30 minutes and just write in random form whatever comes to your mind.  Write everything, anything you want to write.

Write in longhand a stream of consciousness musing. Write what is in your mind. No filters. No judgment. No wrong or right words. Just write words. Describe you. Write.

  • Breathe. Write and breathe in the freshness of putting onto paper everything you can imagine about you, your life, your outcomes, your behavior for the next six months to a year

Take deep breaths, let the words you are writing go deep within-no judgement, no cynicism,  no doubt or fear. Just breathe in refreshing, restorative air and write for 30 minutes.

  • Feel your words. No judgment, no doubt, no reservations here. JUST FEEL! No censors.
  • Stop. When you have reached 30 minutes – STOP. Be disciplined here-stop. Fold your paper and put it away. Do NOT read what you wrote. Fold your page in the journal or fold the sheet of paper you wrote on and put it away. No discussion. Nothing. File your page away in a safe place where only you will see it when you get to Emotional Exercise 2.
  • You are done for the day – feel good about that!

This first imprint Emotional Exercise is complete. It is your pivot step to behavior change.

I am proud of what you have done today.  Look for Emotional Exercise 2 tomorrow. We will build upon this exercise to strengthen your behavior change.

Thank you for your trust and inner courage.

Miracle Monday

Just when you think it will never happen, your miracle comes!  What a liberating thought-to love and live with expectancy. Have hope, expect a miracle.

Something good is going to happen to you, especially for you, TODAY! Keep this declaration in your subconscious mind throughout the day each and every day.  This attitude of gracious acceptance with genuine gratitude for your miracle, whether large or small, elevates your consciousness and messages to the universe that you are ready. Ready to receive, ready to reciprocate, ready to live your purpose.

Each of us are born for a reason, that’s why we populate the earth; not to just breathe and take up space. Absolutely not, you have a sacred purpose. You have a one-of-a-kind imprint, a personal tattoo of purpose. You have an earthly assignment. So, on this Miracle Monday take time to reflect on your miracle mission.  Go back to the basic question WHY? Why am I here, why am I breathing, why am I a thinking, capable being, why was I created noble?

We all have a noble destiny…let me repeat that-we all have a noble destiny.

Pause and inculcate that truth – you have a noble destiny!

“Our destiny changes with our thoughts; we become what we wish to become, do

what we wish to do, when our habitual thoughts correspond with our desires.” ~Orison Swett Marden

If you are not connected – or need a reminder – with the inner awareness that you were created noble and have a destiny, let me suggest these simple connection steps.

  • Place your hand over your heart and say out loud – I am noble. I have a destiny.
  • Smile, see that sacred part of yourself deep within your being.
  • Feel the healing energy and peaceful vibrations from repeating again and again – I am noble. I have a destiny.
  • Trust the universe-trust yourself. Know, really have a solid, unshakable knowing, that you are noble and are on this earth to seek your destined place.
  • Write your declaration – I am noble and I have a destiny.  Then allow your feelings to be and write what you feel.
  • Create your miracle

You can create anything in your life, purposed for the highest good. All you have to do is pay close attention – and expect your purposed miracle.

Life Well Shared

I coincidentally read the spine of the Reader’s Digest (large print mind you) for the first time at the same time I was recalling how fantastic my life is and noticed the tagline for the magazine “Life Well Shared.” What an awesome way to mark our purpose in life – to share and share well. My life has been shared with people and animals who have enriched my soul, without which I would not be the woman of care that I am. My parents, grandparents (whose legacy I honored by writing Snakes Don’t Bite in the Cotton Field), brothers (two now deceased but still connected through my prayers and acts of service that I dedicate to the progress of their souls), girlfriends and male connections which round out my present-day presence. Each shared experience enriches who we are, even the “negative” ones. Uncomfortable, negative situations, as well as positive interactions, are teaching tools that may become blessings that help us to mature and get to know our true nature. So, in the bigger scheme of life-whatever you encounter and whoever you end up sharing space and time with-no matter how minute can become instructive. A life well shared can take on many, many dimensions.

You may share the love of a pet(s) or share the love of your life or share a brief moment with someone that becomes a catalyst for significant change. These charged moments, when you feel heightened emotions or a higher sense of being, actually are breakthroughs for change.

When you dig deeper into the stories of people who impress you, it is likely you will find that they too were impressed by something or someone that shaped their being. For instance, Michael J. Fox is on the cover of this particular issue (May 2010) of Reader’s Digest that I was reading. The title of the article is “What My Illness Taught Me.” In the article Michael J. Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1991, says he practices acceptance and gratitude each and every day. His third book, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future, tells how he learned to live in the moment with those who share his life and the bounteous lessons learned. He says, “You will find that even the gravest problems are finite, and your choices are infinite.”

There are a plethora of stories about people who understand the power of infinite choice. Make time to read these life mastery stories, or even write your own, to permeate the awareness that we have much to share.

I am reminded of the story of the laid-off Pennsylvania school teacher who shared his life with teens when he started a string orchestra for youth in the neighborhood or the now quadriplegic woman, who was once a dancer, who teaches her “kids” dance and life choices from her wheelchair. Another power story is of a family in Stone Mountain, GA – the Habeeb’u’llah’s – who for the past sixteen years volunteer as youth mentors in a program named Project Azania and Umoja Souljahs in the community sharing self-empowerment using African-American history .

Make every encounter a treasure, make each experience golden, make your life and every life you share a rich trove of precious charm.

A life well shared is…

Live it so you know.

Harmony: The Answer to Happiness

A New Earth

Image via Wikipedia

It is axiomatic that when you are angry, stressed, frightened, or in any other toxic state of mind that you are not in alignment with your true, valued purpose for life. It is truly not possible to be happy and disturbed at the same time…utterly impossible!

I don’t care what the precipitating factors are for being out of alignment, whether external or internal in your mind, it is your mind that can restore balance and harmony. Right now, begin to center your mind and think about harmony; this is the only answer to happiness.

Let us begin: (Take FIVE minutes to restore your happiness)

* Clear all noise clutter- NO television, radio, telephone or computer
* Close your eyes
* Offer statement(s) of gratitude. “I am thankful for my breath” “Thank you universe for quiet peace” “My heart is grateful for …..”
* Visualize you in the most harmonious, happy place. Linger there and feel the profound wonders of joy, serenity, purpose
* Claim the calm that comes when you accept harmony, happiness
Say: I am happy! I am calm. I am a joyful and happy being. I am….
* Accept that you are happy. I am happy-let the universe know by showing your happiness with a smile, kind word, tender touch, or helpful action that broadens and deepens the harmony you have within.
* Open your eyes and your mind

You are happy. Go out and live happy-that’s your real purpose.

Repeat this restoration exercise often.
Harmony and happiness can be fleeting when we concentrate on events, situations, or stories which are otherwise.

Attract happiness and harmony with deliberate intention-focus your thoughts solely on being in this state of mind consistently and you will live the answer to happiness:harmony.

Be still, release the emotional noise and be in the pure essence of happiness. Eckhart Tolle
