Step 1 you’ll get intimate with your inner judgment which will stall your progress, identify the triggers underneath it, and get honest about how it makes you feel. Monday Miracle: Moxie

You’ve got moxie, the ability to succeed.  Power, courage, roots, determination, strength, spirit, creativity – you have all of these traits, and more, embedded in the fiber of your beings. Your DNA is composed of moxie. Actually, you are moxie.

When you think of yourself as moxie, you will climb every obstacle.  You will eliminate your limits. Moxie people find a way out of no way, they never settle with half-finished work. Moxie winners toll and strive and sacrifice until they heave a herculean weight; power moxie believers complete the task.

MOXIE POWER

Up your moxie power.

That is it-moxie people believe.  Most people have short-sighted belief; they earnestly pursue a goal until someone tells them they are “crazy” for even thinking they can play professional basketball when they are only 5’6 inches tall. But, moxie man Charlie Criss ignored naysayers and joined 6’6 giants on the basketball court.  A 28-year-old Criss became, in the words of Sports Illustrated, “the NBA’s smallest player and oldest rookie” when he joined the Atlanta Hawks as guard.

Mamie “Peanut” Johnson still has plenty of moxie. Author Michelle Y. Green, in her book, A Strong Right Arm, tells the courageous story of the first African American female baseball player. In a tribute to her, the National Baseball Hall of Fame writer Emily Voss says, “In the late 1940s, she wanted to join the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, and assumed that because Jackie Robinson had broken barriers in the major leagues, the AAGPBL would welcome black players too. The AAGPBL refused to let her try out, but Johnson came away more determined than ever to play ball.”

Moxie Matthew Webb became the first to make the crossing without the aid of artificial buoyancy. His first attempt ended in failure, but on August 25, 1875, he started from Admiralty Pier in Dover and made the crossing in 21 hours and 45 minutes, despite challenging tides (which delayed him for 5 hours) and a jellyfish sting.

Zhang Xin, this young moxie woman was a former factory worker,  Zhang is CEO of Beijing’s largest commercial real estate developer, regularly featured on lists like Forbes magazine’s “World’s Most Powerful Women” and “Top Ten Billionaire Women We Admire” is renowned for her commitment to justice, equality and ethical business.

CNN Hero of the Year for 2013, Chad Pregracke, has the moxie to clean rivers and waterways of debris. After removing over 67,000 tires from rivers, he says find a cause, take action. Be moxie.

Moxie believers are unstoppable.  They all evince power, courage, determination, strength, spirit, creativity. Therefore, heritage, ethnicity, gender, intellect, age, education, health, wealth, weight, environment or any perceived obstacle can never be a success barrier – moxie prevails.

Self-belief can stand alone.

You’ve got moxie-you are moxie. Never stop.

Wednesday Wisdom: Steadfastness

Keep on trucking…do you remember that 70’s saying? If not, that phrase was common then as a motivator to be steadfast in what you are pursuing.  Trucking on is as valuable today as it was then.  Steadfastness is a goal-maker.

“Four short words sum up what has lifted most successful individuals above the crowd: a little bit more. They did all that was expected of them and a little bit more. ” ~ Lou Vickery

Do a little bit more today. Serve your solid sense of responsibility. Take pride in both your work and your reputation for responsible, responsive action.  Make the effort to stretch your current boundaries; commit to delivering even more than is expected…keep trucking a little longer.

Steadfastness extends beyond merely meeting deadlines; rather, it is a dedication to reach a level not experienced before that gives you a glimpse of your inner strength and pure power.  You may choose to exercise five minutes more today. It may mean that you conclude a project not only before the deadline but that you expand the dimensions by going beyond what was expected. Steadfastness connotes delivery, taking concrete action to finish with flourish.

Steadfast behavior builds capacity. We all have the capacity to do more, go beyond your thought and action boundaries today-add one more step, reach beyond the goal post. See yourself expand…be steadfast and grow.

Keep on trucking, baby.

Clear Vision: Clarity in 3 Steps

Red smudges shaped as heart            Corbis photographer:© Thanh-Khoa Tran/Corbis

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” —C.G. Jung

Look inside, awaken to clarity.  Looking around, hither and yon, seeking external confirmation does not lead to inner discovery. You must look deep into your heart to clearly see what is purposed for you.  Clear vision often happens when you soul search but you must need to do more. Dig deep and penetrate as you concentrate. Penetrating your inner desires, manifests clarity of passion, purpose, and power.

Passion, purpose and power is not a dream state, but a clear knowing that is integral to you. It matters not the source to which we turn outside of ourselves to fix ourselves, it cannot be done. Try as hard as you can to point to “if only” or “someone” to complete you, it is a futile projection. Only you can awaken to life and clear vision.

The premise of the book, Climb Every Obstacle: Eliminate Your Limits! is that you are the CEO of your life, only you. Once you recognize that you are your life’s chief operator and begin to trust your influence and ability, the things you intend to achieve is then actualized through the benefit of clear vision.

Clarity is achievable. Use these three steps to clear your vision:

  1.  Pause for a minimum of five minutes a day for the next twelve days (the time it generally takes to inculcate a new habit) and listen to your heart. Really probe, examine what is your true heart’s desire. Embrace whatever surfaces; let the longing of your heart express itself.
  2. Plan for what you hear from your heart.  Oftentimes, a true longing from the heart is so buried within, encased in fear, that not only do you not know what your heart whispers, but you systematically suppress what is inside with busy-ness. This time, hear your heart and plan to carry out what’s inside. Your plan may involve a one day activity i.e., go to a play or you may hear from your heart that you want to be a thespian.
  3. Accept the prompting from your heart with sincere gratitude. Be mindful, with graciousness, that this is clearly what you are meant to do and then attentively do it.

You are awakened. You can see clearly, all obstacles have vanished and out of your way. Gone are the dreams that linger on the outside, you clearly see, know and must act with clarity.
